Bought 2 origami instruction books from the 100yen store way back when they had a store in Bangsar (for RM5 each). The instructions are all in Japanese but one can figure most of it out by looking at the diagrams.

It was good practice for my fingers and brain somehow. All those years of sitting at the computer and desk sifting through documents have not done much for my fine motor skills in crafting! It was a good activity to have with my 7 year old as most kids these days lack exposure to crafting. I mean, when I was her age, we were doing simple cross-stitch at school and later, crochet and knitting! Some of you may remember those crocheted animals made from empty Vitagen bottles.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5d8wfH14FI/AAAAAAAAAVg/LwC637q7wM4/s400/CIMG2689.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158729070606147666" />

Cat finger puppet

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5d8w_H14GI/AAAAAAAAAVo/KCbRaf1DSDs/s400/CIMG2690-1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158729079196082274" />

Pig finger puppet

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5d8xfH14HI/AAAAAAAAAVw/vHLG1fG2NFc/s400/CIMG2692-1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158729087786016882" />
My 7 year old taped the shirt and pants together and drew the details.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5d8yfH14II/AAAAAAAAAV4/9_9At_K-3CY/s400/CIMG2694.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158729104965886082" />

Mr. Gribbet, looking none the worse for wear

Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07401388815558714419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4509696735384197415.post-57360063303914868862008-01-19T13:53:00.001-08:002008-11-13T12:04:00.925-08:00Tamagotchi Fever<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5bX8_H14AI/AAAAAAAAAUw/dvHy2eqjYpA/s400/CIMG2764.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158547865935929346" />

Version 3 (left) and Version 4 (right)

Tamagotchi fever has hit our household again! Again, in that years ago before we had kids, when the tamagotchi craze first hit the world, we each got a tamagotchi for ourselves...hmmmm...the loco things we did in our kidless past! Now our kids have fully gotten into the tamagotchi swing of things again - this being the age of Version 4 (Version 5 has just been released folks!. Our version 3 was purchased at Isetan at about RM39 (at half price) just before Version 4 was released. Version 4 (light pink) was bought in HK at half price in Dec 07. A Melburnian friend reports that Version 4 is retailing at AUD9.90!

Here are the different tamagotchis available. We found these in those Bandai toy machines at the Parkson toy department. Some had to be purchased with 2 tokens (RM8 in total). The "Maidtchi" which was like a paper clip cost 1 token (RM4).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5JyIhui3FI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/_KMuucGZ7_k/s400/CIMG2668-1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157310014110751826" />

"Memetchi"

I claimed this as mine - as I love cooking! The figurine's arm will move up and down with the whisk when a knob at the top of the head is pushed.
The following is a description (in italics) of the different tamagotchis from the tamatown.com website.
She has remarkable sparkly big eyes. She is very defensive though. She will stare someone down while saying "Mean to me!" if she feels her opinions are not heard.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eYB4f6g_y5k/R5JyJBui3GI/AAAAAAAAAUY/GLOvWChquQw/s400/CIMG2670.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157310022700686434" />

"Mametchi"

He is very brillant and always sincere and polite.
Mametchi is our favourite!
